Third Grade Weekly News

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! 



1. The school will be closed on Monday, January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

2. The school will be closed Thursday and Friday, February 7th and 8th for the Grow Conference.


3. Please take a look at the "Classroom Documents." In that folder, you will find a copy of the supply list, handbook, singing schedule, class schedule, Memory Treasures, and Words Their Way Parent Letter.

Spelling:

Most of the time, your child will not have spelling homework. Most assignments are completed in class, so please check your child's planner for the exact assignments. The regular schedule will be as listed below:

Tuesday: Writing Sort
Wednesday: Blind Sort
Thursday: Blind Writing Sort
Friday: Test


Math:

Social Studies: 

Social Studies is on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week. This week, the class will complete Unit 7, "Settling the Northeast." The review will be on Tuesday, Jan. 22nd and the test will be on Wednesday, January 23rd.
 
Science: 

Science is on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of each week. We will complete Unit 5, "Changes to the Earth's Surface." The review will be on Thursday, January 24th and the test will be on Friday, January 25th.

Reading:

 This week, we will continue the novel:
 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The short story we will read is: "The Terrible Eek." The skills we will be working on include: Sequence of Events, Suffixes, and Forming Generalizations.

Language: 

This week, we will continue Chapter 8, Lesson 6 through Chapter 9, Lesson 3, pgs. 317-377.
