Third Grade Weekly News

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!

1. The school will be closed Thursday and Friday, October 4-5, due to the SCD Teacher's Conference.

2. Tuesday, October 9th, is School Picture Day! This is a P.E. day, so please be sure to send clothes for your child to change into.

3. Tuesday and Wednesday, October 16th and 17th, are Parent/Teacher Conference Days (after school.)

4. Please take a look at the "Classroom Documents." In that folder, you will find a copy of the supply list, handbook, singing schedule, class schedule, Memory Treasures, and Words Their Way Parent Letter.

Most of the time, your child will not have spelling homework. Most assignments are completed in class, so please check your child's planner for the exact assignments. The regular schedule will be as listed below:

Monday: Sort two times
Tuesday: Writing Sort
Wednesday: Blind Sort
Thursday: Blind Writing Sort
Friday: Test


Monday- WB: 42-43
Tuesday- WB: 44
Wednesday- WB: 45-47 
Thursday- WB: 48-50
Friday- WB: Math Centers

Social Studies: 

Social Studies is on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week. We will continue Chapter 2, "Rustling Leaves and Grasses."

Science is on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of each week. We will complete Unit 1, "Investigation Questions." The class had a review on Friday (9/14.) The test will be on Wednesday, September 19th. The review sheet will be due on the day of the test. Thursday, we will begin Unit 2, "The Engineering Process."


 This week, we will continue to read the novel:
 Sarah, Plain and Tall. The short story we will read is: "Champions of the World." The skills we will be working on include: Steps in a Process, Making Predictions, Prefixes, and Compound Words.


Next week, we will continue Chapter 2, lesson 5-9, pgs. 65-99. This week, we will continue working on our Personal Narratives.
